Ysgol Bro Teifi “All-Through” School

Background

Ysgol Bro Teifi merges five schools – Ysgol Dyffryn Teifi, Aberbanc, Coedybryn, Llandysul, and Pontsian – to form the county’s second ‘all-through’ school. The largest building ever commissioned by Ceredigion County Council the school takes children from infants all the way through to 6th Form. The site boasts facilities for both the students and local community, offering 400 primary places (3-11yrs) & 700 secondary (11-18yrs), whilst also providing nursery places, leisure and fitness facilities, and adult education. Together with Ceredigion Council, the School Leaders, & Willmott Dixon, Ministry of Furniture specified, planned, and delivered all of the furniture needed to accommodate all of the School’s pupils and then some.

The Challenge

On behalf of Ceredigion County Council and working together with Willmott Dixon, Ministry of Furniture were asked to supply furniture to accommodate 1100 pupils split over Nursery, Primary, and Secondary education environments.

The Solution

Ministry of Furniture engaged with Willmott Dixon at the tender stage of the build to specify the correct furniture for each area through-out the school. Working closely with the contractor, our Projects Team ensured the design process went smoothly and any issues were identified and mitigated as early as possible. Multiple on-site meetings and drawing revisions were handled “in house” to give the fitters on site continuity and single point of contact, reducing any possible misunderstandings. On a project of this size, the installation aspect was complicated and had multiple phases. We provided an on-site Project Manager to oversee the final install of all the furniture. We provided furniture for all types of classrooms including Nursery settings, Art Rooms, Science Labs, Science Prep Rooms, and break out areas for the 6th Form and the Teaching Staff.

THE BENEFITS

We provided a one-stop-shop for all of the furniture requirements ensuring continuity in service through out the tender and build process. One point of contact for the contractor helped to smooth out issues before they became problems. Our experience and expertise across the full range of education furniture allowed the contractor to have total faith and peace of mind that the specified furniture would meet the requirements laid out by Ceredigion County Council. The rooms created are stylish and modern with elements of fun mixed, giving students and the local community an inspiring learning environment for many years to come.
